July prices climb 0.19%, paced by foods

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s Central Bank on Thursdaysaid prices climbed 0.19% in July, with accumulated inflation for the firstseven months at 0.36%.

“With this result, annualized inflation from July 2015 toJuly 2016 stood at 1.85%, remaining below the lower limit of the target set bythe Monetary Program of 4.0% (± 1.0%),” the Central Bank said in an emailedstatement.

It said annual underlying inflation stood at 1.67%,influenced mostly by food prices, which climbed 0.65%.

The Central Bank adds that the price of fresh chicken rose 4.38%),onions (9.29%), eggs (2.42%), green bananas (0.85%).
