Relentless: tourism growth in July again a record

Santo Domingo.- Tourism Minister Francisco Javier Garcia onWednesday said the sector continues a record sustained growth, of 9 percent inJuly, compared with the same month last year, when 619,724 tourist arrived inthe country by air, or 51,401 additional visitors.

He said among other factors, the growth result from ads andpromotion campaigns together with the private sector.

He said tourism had a cumulative growth of 6.9 percent inthe first seven months compares with 2015, receiving 3,662,878 visitors, or 235,792more tourists.

Punta Cana International Airport again led in arrivals with2,134,653 foreign nonresident visitors, or 6.6% higher, and 66.9% of the total tourists,followed by Las Americas was 544,728, or 6.6% higher and 17.1% of the total,and Puerto Plata at 268,512, or 6.8% more, and 8.4% of the total.
