Consumer Protection cautions agencies on Black Friday ads

Santo Domingo.- As Black Friday approaches theconsumer protection agency (Pro Consumidor) met with representatives ofadvertising companies to raise awareness on promoting and foster a culture ofresponsible advertising products or services offered during the holiday shoppingseason.

The meeting allowed suppliers of goods andservices to ask questions and express doubts on how to advertise and, for the agencyto state its policy to promote a responsible culture of good retail practices.

ProConsumidor director Anina Del Castillo stressed averting the use of text,images and audio sounds that might induce consumers or users to confusion orerror and create improvable and unverifiable expectations.

The official also urged the advertisingagencies to use responsible ads, emphasizing on the information to be providedwithout harming consumers’ interests.
