Demands to probe Brazilian plane bribe scandal mount

Santo Domingo.- The civic movement CitizenParticipation (PC) on Monday became the latest entity to demand that the Justice Ministry do its job and investigate, identify and prosecute Dominican government officialsand accomplices who ballooned the cost and took bribes to buy eight Super Tucanoaircraft.

PC said the aircraft deal’s ballooned priceswere reported since 2007, and that the planes weren’t equipped with nightflight avionics and artillery, while Colombia acquired those same aircraft at asignificantly lower cost.

Demands

The legal think tank Institutionalism and JusticeFoundation (Finjus) and Santo Domingo archbishop Francisco Ozoria have alsodemanded a thorough investigation by the Justice Ministry.
