Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic.- Local andnational authorities have apparently totally abandoned the road from PiedraBlanca township to the Jimenoa falls, one of the region’s leading touristattractions, endangering and people and hindering traffic.

Despite the road’s importance as the link tonatural pools in the area, motorists risk plunging into one of the many cliffs andinjury from landslides.
The risks apparently force foreign and local mountaintourists to skip visiting that part of Jarabacoa, according to area residents."Another terror is dealing with the immense darkness for lack of street lightingwhich frightens locals and visitors at night who prefer not to leave their cabins."
They add that the potholes on the road andthe lack of lighting are two factors which make it difficult for visitors tospend weekends in Jarabacoa, called "The city of eternal spring."
