China has US$25B for Dominican tourism, with strings

Santo Domingo.- China’s Business Development representativein the Dominican Republic on Wednesday said Beijing has US$25 billion availableto finance tourism infrastructure and other areas of the country.

Fu Xinrong said the Dominican Republic can accessthe funds despite not having diplomatic ties with her country.

She noted however that the country needs toimprove the infrastructure conditions and services to tourists, noting that asan example, Chinese travelers demand more than sun, sea and sand.

"Despite Dominican Republic have matureinfrastructure in tourist areas there are other points that need improvement suchas diversify the supply to the consumers.

"And something very important, toprepare the tour guides to speak Mandarin" the official said, interviewed onNeon 89.3FM.
