Las Americas Airport needs revamp to deal with rising demand

Santo Domingo.- Las Americas InternationalAirport needs to be restructured to meet today’s high demand for services in SantoDomingo’s most important air terminal.

Airports Dept. director Marino Collante madethe announcement Friday and noted that some areas at Las Americas have been recentlyremodeled.

He said there are currently many globalstandards of modern airports althoug Las Americas "has obviously beenlagging behind when compared to other area terminals."

He said Las Americas is already too small toadequately meet the high demand for services, adding that the French managementcompany Vinci Airports has complied with the terms of the contract with, ineffect during the next 12 years.
