Thousands flock to Dominican Independence Day Parade

Santo Domingo.- PresidentDanilo Medina and Vice-President Margarita Cedeño on Monday headed the traditional military paradeto mark the 173rd anniversary of Dominican Independence, with thousandsenjoying the show along the seaside avenue, Malecón.

Hundreds of men and women in the country’sarmed forces paraded in Army battalions and Navy, Air Force squadrons, alongwith officers of the National Police among others, this year joined by cadetsfrom Mexico and Colombia.

Also present was first lady Candida Montillaan senior members of Medina’s cabinet.
