New free zone companies to invest US$75.0 M, create 1,545 jobs

Santo Domingo.- Industry and Commerce minister Temístocles Montás on Friday announced the approval of the permits to install 15 new free zone companies, with an investment of RD$3.6 billion (US$75.0 million) and create 1,545 direct jobs.

The also National Free Zones Council (CNZFE) president stressed that from their productive activities, the new companies will generate around US$20.4 million in foreign currency.

The companies will be located mostly in Santiago, Santo Domingo, San Pedro and San José de Ocoa.

In a statement, Montas said the agreement was signed during a meeting between the Dominican State and Eco Green Free Zone Park, SRL, to develop and operate the Luperón Verde Puerto Plata Industrial Free Zone, in which Is estimated to make an investment of more than RD$100 million and will create more than 600 direct jobs.
