Minou Tavarez speaks as distinguished guest of Panama

SD.- Opcion  Democratica minority party president Minou Tavárez Mirabal on Wednesday participated in the commemoration of International Woman’s Day in Panama, invited by the country’s National Assembly.

In the event which focused on the rights of women discussed the various topics: political violence, stereotypes, harassment, and laws that promote gender equality, among others.

Tavarez, the daughter of one of three sisters assassinated on orders from the dictator Rafael Trujillo, also took part as speaker in the panel, “The commitment of women’s movement to the new arenas of the millennium.”
