Punta Catalina.

Santo Domingo.- The head of the Presidency’s commission which investigates the tenders for the Punta Catalina coal-fired power plant on Friday said the firm FTI Consulting was chosen to examine “the technical aspects “of the contract.

Monsignor Agripino Núñez said the Commission received the proposals from three US-based consulting firms, “of recognized prestige and competence for the work of the nature that assgined to us: International Line, K2 Intelligence and FTI Consulting. The Commission selected FTI Consulting because it was the one that presented a lower price.”

“FTI Consulting is an independent global business advisory firm dedicated to helping organizations manage change, mitigate risk and resolve disputes: financial, legal, operational, political & regulatory, reputational and transactional. Individually, each practice is a leader in its specific field, staffed with experts recognized for the depth of their knowledge and a track record of making an impact,” it says on its website

It adds that in addition to the US, it has presence in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Canada, Europe and the Dominican Republic, contracted by Tricom, “the second largest telecom operator and largest cable operator.”
