Big business to challenge the 20% wage hike

Santo Domingo.-  National Business Council (Conep) president Pedro Brache on Thurs. reiterated his sector’s position to challenge the National Salary Committee (CNS) resolution that increases the non-sectoral sector’s minimum wages by 20%.

He said the resolution issued by the Labor Ministry doesn’t ratify the increase, and instead establishes, as regulations stipulate, the agreement reached with the Committee, “which means that as of the publication of the resolution, all parties to the tripartite entity have 15 days to challenge that proposal.”

Brache said businesses will challenge because in his view, the decision wasn’t adopted correctly, without the presence of the representatives of the private sector. “It was not the right way, we believe this is something that is always good to do with the consent of the three parties involved.”
