Adolmary Peña, Nohely Cesarina Abreu
New York.- Three recent Queens College grads have been awarded 2017 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships, one of the nation’s most prestigious academic awards.
Among them are Nohely Cesarina Abreu and Adolmary Peña, who are the Spanish-speaking children of Dominican-born parents and the first in their families to attend college.
This fall, Abreu will be pursuing a PhD degree in biomedical research at Weill-Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences in New York, and Peña, who began her career in fashion, is now studying for a PhD in cultural anthropology at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.
All three of the awardees were mentored by Queens College faculty members who recognized their exceptional talent.
