To thwart criminals, 83% of the companies heighten security

Santo Domingo.- 83 percent of the country’s companies have increased their security to avert falling victims to crimes, Private Security Superintendent Martin Amílcar Fernández revealed Tuesday.

He said the most frequent measures include surveillance equipment and to control access.

The official said many of the 403 private security companies aren’t properly regulated.

Legislation

Meanwhile Senate Defense and National Security Commission chairman Adriano Sánchez Roa said the bill to create the Private Security Law is nearly ready.

Among the difficulties the bill on private security aims to correct, the lawmaker listed improved working conditions, wages and training of the guards and an age cap.
