Puerto Rico ferry to move 120K+ people, 20K+ containers yearly

Santo Domingo.- Puerto Rican passenger ferry company Ferries del Caribe on Sunday said it expects to move more than 120,000 passengers per year and more than 20,000 containers with the new ship which that started to ply the Santo Domingo-San Juan route on Tuesday.

Promotions director Carlos de los Santos said the ship carried 650 passengers in its first two days of operation, in addition to cargo and vehicles. “This tells us that we started very successfully and with very good footing. The people have been quite satisfied, because the comments we’ve heard have been very positive.”

US$70.0 million price tag

Interviewed by El Día, sales and marketing manager Néstor Cidrás said the company acquired the new mini-cruise at a cost of US$70.0 million.
