No more marriages with minors

Santo Domingo.- The Chamber of Deputies on Thur. approved the report by its Justice Commission on Dominican Republic’s Civil Code and strikes down Article 146, that had allowed marriage by minors under 18.

The lawmakers, after approving the amendments to the report presented by the committee, decided to debate it again next Tuesday.

The lower Chamber’s rejection of marriage with a minor has already been approved in the Senate, and president Danilo Medina is expected to sign it into law.
