AES Dominicana unveils US$260M, 114MW natural gas power plant

Santo Domingo.- AES Corp. on Monday inaugurated the Los Mina Vll power plant with a capacity of 114 megawatts of clean energy, and whose total 324 megawatts makes the Dominican Power Partner the country’s largest natural gas-powered energy complex.

President Danilo Medina, AES Corp. CEO Andres Gluski, and Acero Estrella CEO Manuel Estrella, among others, attended the ceremony, where AES Dominicana president Edwin De los Santos stated optimism, noting that the transformation makes the power plant one of Dominican Republic’s most reliable energy systems.

He said the new unit, located in the Los Mina district, has already been connected to the national electric grid.

“AES Dominicana is rejoices for being part of the axis of change through innovations and exceeds US$1.3 billion in overall investment, whereas the new unit cost US$260 million,” De los Santos said.
