Environment recovers protected areas in NW

Lag. Saladillo

Santo Domingo.- Environment minister Francisco Domínguez recently toured several parts of Montecristi province (northwest) to monitor the condition of several protected areas.

“It’s basically to supervise the work being done here, you know that the entire organized community works to rescue this protected area, it’s an area that we have to take care of, that we have to protect,” said Domínguez referring to Laguna Saladillo.

In a statement, Environmental said Dominguez visited the lagoon where a dike is being rebuilt, after it was destroyed to encroach on land that is part of the lagoon. “From now on, this dike will serve to protect the body of water and rescue the usual territory of this protected area.”

“The Ministry has made available equipment, technical assistance and manual labor to build the dike as well as the works in El Morro, La Ruta de la Fé and El Cayo de Yuti, along with the Border Management Agency.”
