New hotel room boom in 2016 ‘unprecedented’

Juanillo, Hyatts soon

Santo Domingo.- Tourism minister Francisco Javier García on  Thurs. said the rising investments in hotels and tourism sector infrastructure is a result of the confidence of business leaders, foreign investors, and the Government’s clear vision as a key factor to develop the country.

After accompanying president Danilo Medina in groundbreaking to build the the hotels Hyatt Ziva and Zilara Cap Cana, the official noted that there are more than 7,300 hotel rooms about to be concluded without counting the 750 nearing completion in the new projects of the Hyatt chain in alliance with Playa Hotels and Resorts “in the idyllic and exclusive Juanillo beach, Punta Cana.”

García called the country’s addition of 5,470 hotel rooms just in 2016, unprecedented, “which is clear evidence of the confidence that investors have in the future of the tourism industry.”
