Airports mobilize 8.6M passengers to July 31, a 6.26% jump

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC) director Alejandro Herrera on Wed. said 8.6 million passengers have been mobilized through the airports to July 31 this year, a 6.26% jump over the same period a year ago.

He also reported some 65,000 air operations within the responsibility of the IDAC, and that around 20,000 aircraft have flown over Dominican territory, which he affirmed results from Dominican Republic’s “privileged geographical position.”

He said the country averages 9,100 international operations monthly, 44% percent of which are at Punta Cana Airport, and 31 percent at Las Americas Airport.

Herrera added that Punta Cana also led in passenger transport, accounting for 52 percent of the international travelers.
