Santo Domingo.- Internal Taxes (DGII) on Thursday shuttered the Gran Maravilla and Maravilla Dama department stores owned by outspoken ruling PLD party senator for Peravia province, Wilton Guerrero, and his wife Nelly Melo, the provincial governor, for alleged tax evasion.
Local media report that among the reasons that led to closing the lawmaker and his wife’s businesses in the city of Bani (south)figured the failure to transfer information to Internal Taxes, failure to issue invoices and refusal to install tax-payment printers.
Another business shuttered by the DGII was Julio Peña Liquors Store, although no details on its owner(s) was provided.
