Santo Domingo.- The Taiwanese delegation for Central America and the Caribbean’s tourism industry will visit Dominican Republic from Sept. 18 to 22, the Asian nation’s embassy said Fri., EFE reports.
The business mission is organized by the Taiwan Business Office for Central America (CATO), in conjunction with Taiwan’s Embassy in the Dominican Republic.
During their stay the delegation will visit the Tourism Ministry and meet with representatives of associations and tour operators, “to exchange ideas and attract more tourists to the country.”
In a statement, the CATO said the delegation will also visit the east region, which houses most of the country’s major hotels, to learn of the area’s facilities and attractions.
Dwindling ties
The Dominican Republic is one of handful of countries which still maintains diplomatic ties with Taiwan, considered a rebel province by China.
The mission is formed by Taiwan tourism companies, including Alpha Tours, Hsiang Chou Tours, Kuan Chou Travel Service, Orient Travel Service, Liberty and Times Net.
