Airlines scramble to flee Puerto Plata

Santo Domingo.- Several airlines have canceled some flights Wednesday and Thursday at Puerto Plata’s Luperón International Airport, as Hurricane Maria steams toward Dominican Republic’s northern shore.

Air Canada, Sunwing and Air Transat airlines suspended services to travelers scrambling to fly out of the region no later than Thurs., when aircraft are expected to clear the area prior to Maria’s approach.

Moreover airports management company -Aerodom- reported that the carriers Air Canada Rouge and WestJet, on Wed. reprogrammed Thursday and Friday flights from Puerto Plata, to Montreal and Toronto.
