Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) reported Friday that 3,713 people are lodged in the 70 official shelters in the wake of Hurricane Maria’s track north of the Dominican Republic.
The downpours of the last few hours flooded 1,255 homes, forcing the evacuation of over 6,200 people.
“The overflowed Soco river cut off 15 towns: Concho Primo, Diego, Curvita, Cabeza de Toro, Lima, Regajo, Campiña, Atilano 2, Platanitos, Lechuga, Batey El Negro, and Jaguar y Agua, of San Pedro de Macorís,” said COE director Juan Manuel Mendez in a press conference.
