Judges boast ‘astronomic’ increase in wealth: complaint

Santo Domingo.- The Justice Ministry on Tues. received a complaint against several judges of the National District, which requests an investigation into the increase in their net worth.

The attorney Carlos Enrique Rubio filed the complaint against judges Eunisis Vásquez Acosta, Ynés De Peña, Matías M. Del Rosario and Maritza E. Capellán, on the alleged significant increase in their wealth.

Rubio said the complaint aims to draw attention to their financial statements in 2015, when judge Vasquez declared RD$12.38 million, and RD$67.9 million by yearend 2016. “It becomes obvious that it couldn’t be with a judge’s salary and that Dominicans need answers to this entire framework of circumstances.”

He said the same happens with the other judges of the civil and penal chambers, “who’ve declared astronomical increases in their statement of property.”
