Santo Domingo.- The Environment Ministry on Thur. announced the procedures for companies and individuals who offer tours to Samaná Bay and Banco de la Plata (Silver Banks) during January-to-March the whale watching season.
In a statement, Environment said the norm contained in Resolution No. 0030-2017 signed by the minister, Francisco Domínguez, establishes the characteristics for humpback whale watching vessels according to the capacity, size and usage.
Requirements
“The new procedure indicates that in order to request authorization, the promoter must submit a copy of an identity and electoral card or passport, copy of the vessel registry, copy of the seaworthiness certificate, insurance that covers damages to third parties, name of the boat captain accompanied by copies of their cedula, address and telephone,” Environment said.
It adds that if the registration isn’t in the applicant’s name, they must present a notarized document that establishes the relationship between the owner and the applicant, whether ia sales contract, a lease or a loan, among other requirements.
