London .- The Rose of Bayahibe, the palm chat, the rhinoceros iguana and the falls at El Limon adorn the pages full of Dominican images in the new passport issued by the Passports Bureau and the De la Rue company.
The unveiling held at Canning House formed part of the 6th Dominican Republic Week in the United Kingdom, organized by the Dominican Embassy and the British Chamber of Commerce.
The new passport designed and printed by De La Rue features the highest international standards of security required by the government, says Passport director Ramón Rodríguez in an emailed statement.
He said the new passport puts the Dominican Republic at the forefront of Latin America. “With this new international identity document, our country will have the most advanced technologies and security across the continent.”
Blessed land
Federico Cuello Camilo, Dominican ambassador in London, said the passport “contains those features that define us and which are only found on this blessed land with the most beautiful landscapes, hundreds of endemic species and a government that hasn’t spared efforts to provide fellow citizens with reliable and secure documents.”
