Santo Domingo.- Shoppers by the thousands are flocking to stores Fri. looking for the best deal while merchants expect brisk sales during Black Friday, which like the US, has become the of the most important day to buy items.

Since Thurs. small businesses and major department stores are showcasing their wares to entice shoppers.

In the Dominican Republic the craze began four years ago, when retailers only pushed household appliances and other similar items.

During the last two years however, the offers have diversified to the point that big stores even hawk rotisserie and fried chicken “picapollo.”

“Prepare to live the blackest Friday. Take your charcoal chicken for just RD$195 (US$4).”
