Official announces Dominican capital’s 3rd air terminal

Santo Domingo.- Airports Dept. director, Marino Collante, on Thurs. announced the construction of an aerodrome in Santo Domingo province, in coordination with other govt. agencies including the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC).

Speaking at IDAC headquarters, the official said the air terminal aims to promote aviation tourism. He said the State Sugar Council (CES) will provide the land for the airfield, which will be the third air terminal next to the capital, after the Las Americas and Higuero airports.

Collante said the facility will be built next to the Santo Domingo Beltway, and will be named Zoilo Hermógenes García, the pioneer of Dominican Republic’s civil aviation.
