Santo Domingo.- Representatives of the Dominican Republic, the US and the countries of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) will meet in Santo Domingo during two days starting Wed. to discuss the fight against transnational crime, crime prevention and cooperation in maritime security, the Foreign Ministry announced Tue.
The “VII Dialogue on Cooperation in Caribbean-United States Security” brings together more than 200 representatives from those nations, partners of the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI), said the statement.
The conclave includes the signing of a MoU between the Dominican Republic and Caricom, to exchange information and intelligence.
It said a joint declaration will be issued at the end of the meeting, with an action plan on security and a participatory framework for Caribbean-US security cooperation.
It said Dominican president, Danilo Medina and Foreign minister Miguel Vargas will inaugurate the talks.
