Santo Domingo.- Accounts Chamber president, Hugo Álvarez, on Wed. revealed “very unpleasant” surprises found in their audit of the Metropolitan Bus Services Office (OMSA).
He said although their findings cannot be revealed yet because they’re “secret information,” the surprises involve several tenures.
Álvarez said the Chamber works to finish the audit before year end. “We’re working on the contracts in the OMSA audit, verifying them and seeing if they comply with Purchases and Contracting Law 340-06. In addition, we’re examining Law 41-08, to see if people were related to managers. I promise you that you will have an answer soon, we are working very fast.”
After the murder of university professor Yuniol Ramírez on Oct. 11, an investigation was launched which also uncovered a corruption network for which then OMSA director Manuel Rivas, was indicted and being held for one year of pretrial detention .
