New bridge expected to ease traffic on busiest highway

La Vega, Dominican Republic.-  The Public Works Ministry on Wed. opened the bridge at Burende to vehicular traffic, built in just 68 days, after the old structure was demolished as a result of swelling of the Rio Verde from Hurricane Maria’s downpours, in early September.

Minister Gonzalo Castillo, who cut the ribbon for the new bridge, highlighted the advantages that this bridge will offer drivers who travel there.

He said the motorists who use the Duarte highway’s Santiago-La Vega span can again do so without difficulty from the bottleneck that was formed by the construction.
