City tunnels closed for maintenance

Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Public Works informed that as of today, Tuesday 26th until Friday 29th December the tunnels and overpasses in Greater Santo Domingo will be closed to vehicular traffic for overnight maintenance works.

At 10:30 p.m. Tuesday access in both directions will be suspended for the Expreso V Centenario and Av. San Martín overpass. The closure will be in effect every night until Friday 29th, reopening at 5:00 every morning.

A press release from the ministry communications office explains that works will include electrical structural supervision, collection of solid waste, sweeping and collection of materials, and washing and painting walls, railings and curbs.

On Wednesday 27th the overpass over the 30 de Mayo highway at Km 12 of the Santo Domingo-San Cristóbal road will be closed, and on Thursday 28th the underpass at John F. Kennedy and Máximo Gómez avenues will be closed.

Overnight Friday 28th the tunnel under Las Americas avenue will be closed in both directions, also for maintenance work.

The Ministry apologized to the public for any inconvenience caused by these closures, while pointing out that the work is aimed at improving ease of vehicular transit.
