High expectations from South region tourism project

Santo Domingo.-  The Tourism Ministry promotes the Puntarena tourism project as Dominican Republic’s next prime resort region, comparing it to Punta Cana.

The construction of the property, called Playa Los Corbanitos, near Bani, Peravia province (south), takes place at the virtually untouched landscapes sure to attract local and foreign tourists.

The project on 15.5 million square meters raises expectations of tourism development in a region where only Barahona and Pedernales can boast infrastructure to lodge Dominicans and foreigners in any considerable number.

On its website, the Presidency notes that Puntarenas features 5 kilometers of beach; less than a two-hour drive from Santo Domingo, and an arid climate that’s area for vacationers.

The property will first build a beach club followed by hotels, condo-hotels of up to 600 units, 172 residential lots, an ecological reserve and other recreational areas.
