Villagers evicted from National Park get 53 homes

Villa Poppy, Constanza

Constanza, Dominican Republic.- Environment Minister Francisco Domínguez on Thurs. inaugurated the Villa Poppy housing project, of 53 homes for as many families that were evicted from Valle Nuevo National Park (central) in Jan. last year.

The cinderblock and wood houses feature of three bedrooms, living and dining room, kitchen, bathroom and laundry area.
Each house bears the name of the institution or individual that made a donation to build the homes.

During three decades the families lived in the villages El Castillo and La Siberia, and the housing project is located in Rio Grande, near the waterfalls Aguas Blancas, in the Central Mountains.
