Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.- Los Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship PGA Tour has started at Los Corales golf course, a tournament that will put the Dominican Republic in the eyes of around one billion people in 226 countries.
With a field of 132 players from around the world who will be competing to share a US$3.0 million purse and accumulate points for the FEDEXCUP and world ranking.
The PGA Tour, the main professional male golf circuit, is held for the first time in the country until March 25.
Among the professional PGA players figure Jim Furyk, one of the most recognized in the United States; Davis Love III with 20 wins on the PGA Tour; Hunter Mahan who has won six victories on the PGA Tour; and Argentina’s Emiliano Grillo recognized as “the rookie of the year” of the PGA Tour in 2016.
Accompanying this list are five Dominicans who will have the opportunity to participate in an event of that category: Hiram Silfa, George Riley, Julio Santos, Willy Pumarol and the amateur Rhadamés Peña.
