Downpours prompt flash flood warnings

Santo Domingo.- The National Weather Office (Onamet) on Thurs. issued flash flood warnings for nine provinces and Greater Santo Domingo, on the downpours from a trough.

It said residents in La Vega, Hato Mayor, Dajabón, Monseñor Nouel, Monte Plata, Elías Piña, La Altagracia, San Cristóbal, Greater Santo Domingo and El Seibo should remain alert to possible floods.

Onamet forecasts continuing downpours, thunderstorms and gusty wind as of early Thurs. for the northeast, southeast, border area and Central Mountains.
