Santo Domingo.- The local chapter of the Business Alliance for Secure Commerce (BASC Dominicana) on Thursday unveiled for its application for the country, the new version of the Norms and International Safety Standards for certifications issued by that world entity, aimed at promoting a culture of protection in companies, exports and imports to minimize crimes related to global trade.
“This adaptation responds to the challenges of international trade and the integration of customs initiatives and programs, taking into account the needs of the business sector hand in hand and that they constitute a reference in the industry, characterized by the implementation of integral and secure processes,” said BASC Dominicana’s new president, July de la Cruz.
Moreover, the executive stated that an attempt was made to comply with a new model and structure that’s easy to apply, keeping the precision and demand component to maintain the quality of the BASC certification.
“That security in the supply chain poses an opportunity to reassess the challenges we face in the international trade, the opportunities and risks of multilateral cooperation agreements and their impact on our goals and organizational and the development strategies as a nation,” Cruz said in his keynote speech to present the new rules in the El Embajador hotel,.
The activity included the delivery of BASC Standard certifications to 31 companies, while 24 entities were recognized by David McNeill, charge d’affaires and interim head of the U.S. Embassy.
