Call centers provide 18,000 jobs, can create 60,000 more

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic is the Caribbean’s second best country in the use of the English language, which poses an advantage to attract foreign direct investment in companies such as call centers.

There are 72 firms of that type and employ around 18,000 people, but with a potential to create 60,000 additional jobs, said José Nelton González, executive vice president of ERC BPO, a business solutions company based in India, South Africa and the United States.

It has 3,000 collaborators globally and 1,300 businesses, with experience in industry, internet, cable television, insurance, finance, energy and others.

It also provides services to sales and channel management clients, technical support, and more.

Expansion with new plant

ERC BPO is in the process of evaluating the installation of a new service center, which would provide 500 additional jobs.
