Santiago gets a Botanical Garden

Santiago.-  President Danilo Medina on Mon. headed ribbon-cutting for the first stage of Santiago’s Botanical Garden , developed on more than 650,000 square meters.

It features over 12 kilometers hiking trails and bike paths, protected by a storm fence and round-the-clock security, the Environment Ministry said a statement.

It said more than 100,000 trees of hundreds of species have been planted and are fully developed.

“In a few months the Botanical Garden will have other spaces such as the Visitor Center, a butterfly house, Freddy’s Corner, gazebos for activities, playground, train for touring, the Japanese Garden and an Event and Convention Center.
