Tourism Ministry to publish Verón land use plan within 60 days
Santo Domingo.- Tourism Minister David Collado announced that the land use plan for Verón, in La Altagracia province, will be released within the next 60 days as part of efforts to promote sustainable tourism development in the country’s main destinations. “We’re going to organize our destinations. Bávaro-Punta Cana must be organized,” Collado emphasized while presenting the latest tourism statistics.
He explained that the plan is being developed in collaboration with the private sector and multiple institutions. Other destinations will also undergo reorganization, including Bayahíbe-La Romana, where the Ministry of Tourism has already completed 95% of a RD$250 million parking project to remove vehicles from the beaches, and Las Terrenas in Samaná. Additionally, land use plans are being prepared for Puerto Plata, tied to the Punta Bergantín project, and Pedernales, under the coordination of Vice Minister Carlos Peguero.
Deputy Minister of Territorial Planning, Domingo Matías, confirmed that tourism and municipal authorities in Verón will soon meet with private sector stakeholders for a final consultation before submitting the plan. He noted that the mapping is already complete, describing the project as one of the most complex designs undertaken, given that it involves a full municipal district.
