Grupo Puntacana to inaugurate US$200 million Free Trade Zone
Punta Cana.- Grupo Puntacana will inaugurate the Punta Cana Free Trade Zone (PCFTZ) on Wednesday, a project exceeding US$200 million in investment that combines air, sea, and land logistics, a technology and innovation hub, and the country’s first aircraft maintenance and repair (MRO) center. The launch will be led by President Luis Abinader, marking what the company calls “a new milestone in the economic and technological development of the eastern region.”
Located on a 742,616-square-meter site, the PCFTZ will include the Punta Cana Hub, designed to attract fintech and tech companies, and a multimodal logistics center capable of handling import, export, transshipment, and parcel operations. In partnership with DP World, the center will link air, land, and sea routes, reinforcing the Dominican Republic’s role as a logistics hub for the Caribbean.
The project is expected to create over 10,000 direct and indirect jobs, with cutting-edge technology ensuring security and efficiency. Additionally, FL Technics has invested US$70 million to build the country’s first independent MRO facility, which will meet FAA and international aviation standards. The inauguration of the PCFTZ on November 12 represents a strategic step toward economic diversification, innovation, and global connectivity, positioning Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic as regional leaders in logistics and aeronautics.
