Santo Domingo Beltway’s 1st span ready by end of February

Santo Domingo.- Public Works minister Gonzalo Castillo on Sunday toured the Santo Domingo Beltway, and said the work advances quickly to conclude the first section no later February.
The work by the contractor Consorcio Compreica-Alba Sanchez spans the November 6 (Southern) Highway, from 24 kilometers north on the capital on the Duarte Highway.
Hundreds of workers place the dividing median, as well as landscaping throughout the Duarte Highway interchange.
Public Works said the roadwork is an important link for three main regions, and road signs have already been installed in much of its 17.5 kilometer-span from the port town of Haina to the Duarte highway.
The Beltway aims to ease traffic in Greater Santo Domingo, and its first section is scheduled to be open by late February.
