Medina cuts ribbon on first of several overpass at Boca Chica
Boca Chica, Dominican Republic.- President Danilo Medina onSunday cut the ribbon on an overpass at Las Americas highway in Boca Chica, whichwill expedite traffic between Santo Domingo and Las Americas Airport (east).
The work built at cost of US$10 million is part of the projectto rebuild and expand the La Caleta-Boca Chica span of the Las AmericasHighway.
Public Works minister Gonzalo Castillo said the work completesthe road grid of the East: Boca Chica, Guayacanes- Juan Dolio, La Romana, PuntaCana, Bavaro, Miches and Sabana de La Mar.
He said the overpass will separate local and thru traffic toturn that stretch of the road into an urban motorway, which according to the Presidency’s website, "will result incomfort and harmony for users and security for its inhabitants."
More overpasses
Senate president Cristina Lizardo, who attended the event, saidthe next overpass will be at the Technological Institute of Las Americas, inBoca Chica, which she affirms would prevent accidents and deaths.
