Medina cuts ribbon on agroforestry training facility

Bohechío, Dominican Republic – President Danilo Medina on Tuesday cut the ribbon for the Regional Agricultural and Forestry Training Center, where members of associations and cooperatives will receive training in seven Agroforestry Development Projects.

Speaking for the inhabitants of the town near San Juan de la Maguana (west), producer and beneficiary Carlos Manuel Sánchez said the center’s importance is based on the fact that “the community was accustomed to producing only with the help of God.”

“With this center we will have the appropriate guidelines to know when and how to sow and what to apply to planting,” he said.

He noted that the farmers’ children will also acquire new knowledge and thanked Medina for “returning the smile to the producers of the southern region.”

For Agroforestry Development Projects Technical Unit director Rafael Emilio De Luna, “today is a day of jubilation for agroforestry development projects.”
