Santo Domingo.- The National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) revealed Wednesday that a shipment of rulos, a variety of plantains seized prior to being placed aboard a flight to New York, had been stuffed with 117 tubes of cocaine found in a container during a spot inspection in Las Americas International Airport.

The drug was packed in the company identified as “Compañía Vegetales Santiago,” located in Moca (north), according to a statement by the agency issued Wednesday.

It said three people were detained for questioning thus far and the arrest of others is expected in the next few hours.

The weight of the drug, inserted by the tips of the plantain, had yet to be specified as of mid-morning,
