Dominican authorities say 92 people have died due to cholera

Santo Domingo.- A total of 92 people have died because of cholera in the Dominican Republic, the Health Ministry reported Friday. The source said that over the past week fivepeople have died from the disease.

According to the ministry, cholera symptoms were recorded by physicians in more than 670 new patients.

Since the beginning of the epidemic in November 2010, 14 thousand people have been hospitalized.

Choleraarrived in the Dominican Republic from Haiti, a neighboring state,where at the end of October last year there were nearly 400,000cases. Over 6,000 Haitians died as a result of the epidemic.
