Electoral Board invites 40 foreign voting observers

Santo Domingo.- The Central Electoral Board (JCE) invited 40 international institutions and personalities to observe the May 20 elections to the presidency and overseas deputies.

JCE president Roberto Rosario said among the invitees figure the Center Carter, headed by US ex president Jimmy Carter; the United Nations, Organization of American States (OAS) Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza, as well as to the director of the Center of Consultant’s office and Electoral Promotion (Capel) Jose Thompson.

Also invited were International Democracy and Electoral Assistance Institute (Idea) director for Latin America Daniel Zovatto, Colombia National Electoral Council president Jose Joaquin Vives, Nicaragua Supreme Electoral Court president Robert Rivas, and Inter-American Human Rights Institute executive director Roberto Cuellar.
