Naval Auxiliaries help rescue 21 in ship collision

Santo Domingo. – The Dominican Naval Auxiliaries (AND) on Monday reported the collision of two ships 60 miles northeast of Ile de La Tortue, Haiti on Saturday, without any fatal victims and more than 20 people rescued.
Once learning of the mishap between the ships, the bulk freighter, Sea Gate and the Timor Stream, the civilian group that helps the Navy contacted U.S. Coast Guard and its Dominican par, whose quick response led to the rescue of 21 people.
The AND said the Dominican Navy patroller Capella and the USCG cutter Ventorous arrived at the site, where a US helicopter was deployed to search the area of the collision, between British registered Sea Gate, of 557 feet , and the Liberia flag Timor Stream, of 492 feet.
