Wednesday a “Day of Mourning” for too many women murdered this year

Santo Domingo.- Next Wednesday has been declared "Day of Mourning" by 63 organizations, institutions and groups to protest the violence which has left dozens of women dead so far this year.
The day includes a gathering in Congress to call the authorities’ attention, because in the organizers’ view, "its indolence is also evidenced by the increase in crimes against women."
The organizations call on society, especially women to take to the streets dressed in black or gray black, white, gray, yellow or other color to express solidarity with pain as a sign of mourning, to show condolences for all women who’ve been murdered by their partners or former partners.
"Never before has social action been so needed to proclaim a strong halt on the epidemic of gender crimes," the flyers distributed to the media say.
